The Nirvana Day of Shakyamuni Buddha
UK Guan Yin Citta held a Buddhist vegetarian event to commemorate the Nirvana Day of Shakyamuni Buddha on 6th March, 2023. We would like to thank you all the volunteers from UK Guan Yin Citta for well-organizing of this event to help and encourage all the participants engage in it, exchange their opinions, and communicate with each other.
Master Lu used to teach us the spirit of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door is not only reciting sutras and mantras, but also understanding of Buddhism, opening wisdom, and cultivating the mind. After discussion, some Chinese-English versions of words of wisdom from Master Lu were selected as the theme of this event. For example, such as
“Do not become obsessed with material possessions that are unattainable.”
“Cultivating the mind is one way of regulating the mindset by ourselves.”
“One who wallows in regret cannot see into their future.”
“What is meant by fulfillment? It means helping others.
What is meant by cultivation the mind? It means changing yourself.
What is meant by awakening? It means letting go of your ego.”
After reciting those words of wisdom by the participants, the volunteers explained the meaning and answered all the questions. This form of interaction not only warm up the atmosphere, but also help everyone further understand of Buddhism, which won the praise of all the participants. There were two short videos of commemorating Shakyamuni Buddha played at the end of the event. In the future, Guan Yin Citta will plan to hold more vegetarian events to help the anticipants learn more Buddhism, and apply those in their lives.
My deep gratitude to Guan Yin Bodhisattva, Master Lu and the Dharma Protectors! My deep gratitude to all the volunteers from UK Guan Yin Citta!
